The Feeling's Neutral

Do you ever look in your closet and see that you have more neutrals than colors? Yeah. Me too. I always thought this was a problem, until I recently decided to embrace it. And what better day to test this out than a cold fall Wednesday? And so, I give to you, a neutral in color kind of day.

Take Fall as it Comes

I'm sorry, friends! I have failed. With my excess amount of AP homework and limited amount of time, I have let this blog down. But I'm ready to pick it back up and get going! Today's outfit, along with most outfits in the months of September, October and November, was inspired by fall. You know why? Because I live in a place that has falls like this:

That's why.

This + some clothes brought home from Barcelona by my parents = The makings of greatness.

Scarf: Barcelona
Sweater: Kohls
Tank Top: Italy
Jeans: TJ Maxx
Boots: Alloy (the grass was wet..)

So, to end this post, I'll introduce you to someone:

This is Abby. She loves fall.

The Day We Met - allic

Today, I woke up to one of my favorite fall-type days. So I swung open my doors and walked out onto my grand terrace. Just kidding, I wish I had a grand terrace. But the point is, it was just the right amount of foggy and just the right amount of not-too-cold. I decided to pull out one of my go-to fall pieces: the silver trench coat! Layered underneath was a teal dress worn over dark wash jeans. I slipped into some black kitten heels, added a blue scarf and finished it off with a black floppy hat.

Trench Coat: Macy's
Dress: Forever 21
Shoes: Kohls
Hat: Target
Purse: Fossil

Enjoy the misty day!

Bows and Sequins

One trend that has recently come around that I am quite fond of is flowey shirts. They allow for much more freedom (we can finally stop holding our stomachs in... not that anyone does that..) and they're flattering. Wait.. hold the phone.. shirts that aren't skin tight can be flattering?! Yes! Yes, I say! Welcome to the good life, ladies and gents.

So, today I chose one of my favorite flowey tops, some skinny jeans, and a pair of heels (yes, the same ones from this post), as well as a sequin necklace.

The sequins, as promised!
Buttons + bows = darling. Well done, Forever.

Jeans: TJ Maxx
Sequin necklace: Old Navy

Link Lovin'

Recently, due to the discovery of some adorable online boutiques (and our unfortunate lack of shopping options within a 3 hour radius) I've found a new obsession: online shopping. I know, I know... the sport has been tainted by the disappointing arrival of those too-large jeans, too-short tops, and too-small shoes, but I've braved a few virtual shopping carts of the inter-web and found that, with the right information, you can find some really great additions to your wardrobe that weren't accessible before.

Here are some of the online shops I'm loving:

Modcloth- Oh. My. Word. Take retro 60's fashion and put it in a blender with lace, pearls and all things vintage and what do you have? You have a marvelous online boutique. That's what.

Another favorite? Ruche. This classy shop has everything from frocks to floral. Their bohemian-style dresses are unique and very fashionable. I have a thing for kitten heels, and this site could very well have me supplied.

Lulu's also made the list! In style and pretty affordable. I'm loving their new fall collection!

And, last but not least, this post would be incomplete without one of my all time favorites: Urban Outfitters. High fashion and bold, I simply love their oversized T's, flowey skirts and fun dresses.

So, while the experience of online browsing could never replace the thrill of REAL shopping, there is something sweetly enjoyable about putting on your favorite comfy sweats, making yourself a big cup of coffee, and opening up that laptop to visit your favorite places straight from your couch.

What's your favorite online shop?

A Windy Tuesday

I am not a huge fan of wind (ha... fan.. wind..). It messes up your hair, makes dresses uncomfortable, and turns a seemingly lovely day into a hard to manage one. So, this morning I threw on my leather jacket and headed out the door to a blustery welcome! (It may have been a lazy day, too)

Side note: I have bad luck with computers. Like, "computer-getting-struck-by-lightening" bad luck. (No, seriously.. that happened). Anyway, my desktop has now decided not to turn on, so please bare with me while I use icky online editing software.

Nautical Chic

Hello, little blog!

Today was rainy. And cold. And windy. Now, if it had been just those first two things, it would have been alright. But wind? No thank you. Anyways, in lieu of our stormy weather, I decided to go for a fun, stripey (add that one to the dictionary), nautical outfit. I wore a loosely fitted striped top, a dark blue key-print scarf, dark wash jeans and patent leather pumps.

So there you have it!

Vintage Glam

October 7th was indeed a fantastic day, because any day that allows you to dress up all vintage-y is a great one. A dear friend of mine had her birthday and the theme was vintage glam, which seems fitting seeing as we just started a vintage blog! So, on this fine occasion, I pulled out my best vintage look:

Sweater: Target
Blouse: Old Navy
Skirt: Forever 21
Tights: Ross
Shoes: My mom's closet (sorry, no link for that!)

Who doesn't want a close up of shoes?

Alright, I'll admit. Going into the night, I had no vision for my hair. But then, this fancy bun showed up and I decided to let him stay. Well done, bud.

The party was a success (even with the absence of Becky) and everyone looked truly vintage.

One last thought: pearls are always a vintage YES.

The Seven Sacred Secrets of Fall

Now that the summer months are leaving, where does that put us? Well.. it puts us out in the cold. But don't pull out your thick sweaters just yet! We still have a few months of fall, and we're determined to make the most of these cozy autumn days!

Here's a list of some of the trends we're looking forward to this season:

1) SCARVES! Tess and I look forward to this all year. You know how children get anxious for Christmas morning? Yeah, I just made that comparison.

2) Forget the summer sandals, girls. It's time to pull on some boots! Paired with your favorite skinny jeans or some cute tights, we love this trend!

Fringe boots found here (grey, black or brown!)

For a more "rock-star look,"we go for the combat boot! These boots were indeed made for walking, and we are very excited to wear them! With your favorite skinny jeans, pair these with a cardigan and scarf for a fashionable, edgy look! (far left found here, far right found here)

3) What we're burning.. (other than too much time shopping)

Becky's fall candle fave:

This candle is brilliant. If leaves really smelled this good, I'd be living outside. Bought it here, then bought it again, and again, and again..

Tess' fall candle fave:

Now, don't be fooled- this isn't one of those overwhelming apple cinnamon candles, or strong vanilla scents that Yankee is known for.. no. This is good. Like.. grandmother's kitchen good. This is a "retired scent" so if you want it, you have to be a professional candle hunter, like Tess.

 4) The rolled up jean. We love this skinny/straight leg jean with a rolled up cuff! Pair it with your favorite oxfords, heals, or flats!

5) Dresses and skirts! Alright, so some things you don't have to leave behind! Leg warmers and tights make skirts and dresses totally fall-approved.

6) Pumpkin Spice Latte. Only once a year, this spicy-sweet combo rocks our fall. Vanilla Lattes, and Peppermint White Mochas also made the list!

7) Jackets. From leather jackets to pea coats, staying warm never looked so cute!

The pea coat adds a fun statement to any outfit. Pair it with jeans or a dress for any occasion. It just screams "Yeah. My coat looks like it's from England. Jealous? Thought so." (Yay, sarcasm!)

Leather jacket = fantastic, fun and functional. Great with jeans, skirts, dresses, and, well, just about anything!

Add a cute pair of heels and you've got yourself a rockin' outfit! And who doesn't love rockin' trench coat outfits? No one we know!

So there you have it. Our seven secrets to dressing for fall! What are your fall fashion secrets?
